Created by the Mérieux Foundation in 2008, the GABRIEL network promotes international collaboration in the field of infectious diseases and supports local initiatives to address public health challenges.
Connecting a diverse group of laboratories
Our non-profit network brings together 22 research laboratories from academic, public, and private institutions located in low-income countries.
- Epidemiological surveillance where risk is high
Members of our network are active in areas that are exposed to infectious diseases, with a high risk of epidemics due to emerging diseases. Their role is to provide overseeing epidemiological surveillance. - Forging strong ties with local professionals
Our network establishes strong ties with clinicians and local health authorities. It supports national and international public health and research initiatives. - Targeting high-impact diseases
The research activities of our members focus on high-impact public health concerns, such as respiratory infections, tuberculosis, and antimicrobial resistance.
