LABINFO staff comprises highly qualified professionals led by Dr. Ana Tereza Ribeiro de Vasconcelos. The team includes biologists, senior researchers, bioinformatics developers, laboratory technicians, postdocs, systems analysts, and undergraduate and graduate students.
Our research spans areas ranging from genomics to system biology. Our lab has been involved in numerous genome projects (Brazilian Genome, South Genome, Nitrogen Fixators, Comparative Xylella, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Magnetotactic Multicellular Organisms, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Cryptococcus gattii, Metarhizium anisopliae, Anopheles darling, Burkholderia phenoliruptrix, Trypanosoma cruzi. Trypanosoma rangeli), etc., and transcriptome and metagenome projects. We have been responsible for the development of the software application, SABIA (System for Automated Bacterial genome Integrated Annotation), that assembles, annotates, and compares the genomes of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, as well as metagenomic and transcriptomic data. The LABINFO team has also developed several databases on various themes (MamiBase, TaxVibrio, Probacter, BMRC, TractorDB, CTPedia, just to mention a few).
The knowledge and expertise acquired over the past 15 years has motivated us join the GABRIEL Network for two considerations:
- to give the members of the GABRIEL Network access to the UGCDFA facility and LABINFO bioinformatics tools forthe purpose of allowing them to perform the sequencing of samples and to analyze data from research projects relevant to the themes of the Network;
- to organize regular professional training in bioinformatics for members of the GABRIEL Network.
