LABINFO has collaborated with various research groups in Brazil and coordinates the Brazilian Genome Network (Rede Genoma Brasileiro) involving 33 research and educational institutions, and has participated in several regional genomic networks (South Genome Network [Rede Genoma Sul], Renorbio, etc.).
In 2014, LABINFO began working with UFMG and LNBio to structure a Brazilian national bioinformatics network with financial support from the MCTI. Additionally, LABINFO formally collaborates with four foreign institutions, including the International Associated Laboratory/International Laboratory of Bioinformatics Research (Laboratório Internacional Associado/Laboratório Internacional de pesquisa em Bioinformática – LIA/LIRIO), and a bilateral agreement with the Laboratoire de Biométrie et Biologie évolutive (LBBE) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, UMR 5558, Lyon, France).
Within the Brazilian “Science without Borders” (Ciência Sem Fronteiras) program, we have collaborated with the University of Malaga, Spain, in high-performance computing for biomedical application, and with the Technical Institute of Lisbon (Instituto Técnico de Lisboa) in the field of bioinformatics algorithm development.
In 2015, our lab initiated a new collaborative project with the CNRS UMR5308, Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (CIRI), Centre National de Référence de Staphylocoques (Lyon, France) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) to study the adaptive processes in Staphylococcus aureus on two different scales: population evolution of the USA400 clone and switch to persistence during bone joint infection, with the support of the CAPES-COFECUB program.
